Title I
This year, all elementary schools in the Central Dauphin School District are Title I schools. What is Title I? Title I is the largest federal aid program for elementary, middle, and high schools. Through Title I, money is allocated to school districts around the country based on the number of low-income families in each district. Each district uses the Title I money for extra services for children in need of educational help. The focus of the TItle I program is to help all students learn, grow, and meet the high standards expected of all children.
Parent/guardian involvement is an important aspect of Title I - you influence your child's success in school. Our school encourages you to be actively involved in your child's education. Parents will be informed of their child's level of achievement in reading and math on teh PSSA tests in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. Information will also be provided about their child's academic progress through data reports and parent/teacher conferences. At West Hanover, we use a variety of measures to guide our instruction and meet students' individual needs.
