Counseling Office

Individual Counseling: I regularly meet with students on an individual basis. My door is always open for them if they want to talk about problems they are having with friends, school, home, etc. Our conversations are always kept confidential, unless I feel that the safety or wellbeing of anyone is a threat. In these cases, I would need to break confidentiality and alert an administrator and/or parent. 

Small Group Counseling: Small counseling groups will be offered throughout the entirety of the year. Some topics of counseling groups may be (but are not limited to): emotional regulation, social skills, anxiety, and grief and loss. I will always contact parents and give notification before beginning small groups. 

Classroom Guidance Lessons: There are times throughout the year when I will visit your child's classroom to deliver lessons to help them achieve socially, emotionally, and academically. Other times I may visit a classroom is if a teacher is having a classroom-wide issue/problem that may need to be addressed. I will be working very closely with the teachers to find out the needs they have within their classes so that I can help deliver lessons that help students in any way possible.

Consultation: It is vital that parents, teachers, and administrators are on the same page to address student needs. I plan to meet regularly with teachers and administrators to discuss student problems, plan for strategies to address these problems, and follow up on their progress. I am also available to meet with parents to discuss any concerns they may have.

Referral to resources: As a school counselor, I am knowledgeable about the myriad of outside resources that are available within our community. If parents ever have questions or need recommendations from these agencies, I can provide them with informational brochures or contact information.
